A nonverbal autistic man struggles with the overwhelming horrors of everyday life. This film is intended to reflect just one of the many struggles faced by those with autism, some of whom experience occasional issues with sensory overload. Sometimes we just need a place to calm down. The sunglasses are representational. Simply putting on a pair of sunglasses will not magically make our problem go away, but the sunglasses symbolize something those outside the autistic community can relate to, that sometimes we all need a little help to change the way we see the world.

Band Together Episode 1: The Adelmann Legacy

Kyle Adelmann was the director of the LaSalle-Peru Township High School Marching Band from 2010 to 2018. During that time, the band increased in size to over 100 members for the first time since the 1980s, and touched numerous young lives, influencing many to pursue careers in music. The first installment of our marching band series Band Together tells the story of Adelmann’s influence on the LP Band, and the band’s influence on its members.
